Datastic Portal Onboarding
Datastic developer portal · getting started

From sign-up to your first API call

Six steps, about five minutes. Sign in with Google, add credits, create an API key, and make your first request to api.datastic.in.

  1. 1Open the portal
  2. 2Choose your account
  3. 3Your dashboard
  4. 4Add credits
  5. 5Create an API key
  6. 6Make a request
1Step 1 of 6

Open the portal and sign in

There is no separate sign-up form. Your account is created the first time you sign in.

  1. Go to developers.datastic.in.
  2. On the Sign in page, click Continue with Google.

By continuing you accept the terms of service and privacy policy.

2Step 2 of 6

Choose your Google account

Google asks which account to use, then sends you back to the portal, signed in.

  1. Pick the account you want to use with Datastic.
  2. If Google asks, allow Datastic to see your name and email address.

On your first sign-in we create your account and an organization named after you, such as Asha Rao’s org, with you as its owner. API keys, credits and usage belong to the organization, so teammates you invite later share them.

3Step 3 of 6

Get to know your dashboard

You land on Overview. Its Make your first request checklist covers the next three steps and ticks each one off as you finish it.

The sidebar holds everything else:

  1. Usage: your request history, by day and by key.
  2. Playground: try pipelines in the browser.
  3. Team: invite colleagues as admins or members.
  4. Billing: credits, plans and invoices.
4Step 4 of 6

Add credits

Every request draws from your balance. Credits come in packs of 1,000 requests for ₹499 and never expire.

  1. Click Add credits on Overview, or open Billing.
  2. Under Credits remaining, pick an amount: 1,000, 2,000, 5,000 or 10,000.
  3. Click Buy credits and pay on the secure Stripe checkout page.
  4. You return to the portal with the credits on your balance.

For steady volume, a monthly Starter or Build subscription includes an allowance that is used before your credits.

Until the account has credits or a subscription, every API call returns 402 payment_required.

5Step 5 of 6

Create an API key

Your key goes in the X-API-KEY header of every request.

  1. On Overview, click + Create API key.
  2. Name it after where it will run, such as Production, and click Create key.
  3. Click Copy and save the secret in your password or secrets manager.
  4. Tick I’ve stored the secret somewhere safe, then click Done.

The secret is shown only once. If you lose it, regenerate the key from the API keys list on Overview.

Only owners and admins of an organization can create keys and buy credits.

6Step 6 of 6

Make your first request

This call lists five RERA-registered projects. Afterwards it appears under Usage, and the Overview checklist is complete.

  1. Save your key as an environment variable, DATASTIC_API_KEY.
  2. Run the command below.
  3. Check x-credits-remaining in the response headers: it went down by one.

Every endpoint is documented at docs.datastic.in.

Terminal
$ export DATASTIC_API_KEY="dsk_live_…"
$ curl -i "https://api.datastic.in/v1/real-estate/rera/projects?limit=5" \
    -H "X-API-KEY: $DATASTIC_API_KEY"

HTTP/2 200
content-type: application/json
x-credits-remaining: 999

{ "projects": [ … 5 projects … ], "next_cursor": "…" }
